Eileen Gray was a female designer who often cross-dressed among the male-dominated pioneers of modernist design. In the Bauhaus era, where most designs were rectilinear, minimalist, and in some ways masculine, her unique curves were neither feminine nor masculine. The Monte Carlo Sofa, a true masterpiece by a non-binary artist ahead of her time, seems to encapsulate her design philosophy.
